[OpenWrt-Devel] How to start

Hi all,
  I'm new in the world of openwrt. I'm a computer science student and my
goal is to start implementing simple mac protocol on real hardware.
I started reading some documentation but I'm loosing... If someone of you
can help my to find the right direction of my study I will really
appreciate.
