a cleaner way is using .git/info/grafts
http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/howto/buildroot.exigence#merged_main_repository_into_a_single_git_repository
just replace BB with CC and so on
(i wasn't aware of this git feature until i came across that openwrt howto)
