I've thought, that we've agreed to remove the option completely?

I've prepared https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/pull/17097
Which basically does the same, but with cherry-picks, but drops anything apk
related, as this might introduce opkg regressions.

I've not included this one, I was told, that its not ready yet.
