I am running Chaos Calmer (but I've also tried Barrier Breaker) and that
is exactly the firmware I am using.

No VDSL here yet. A fritz box (with stock firmware) on the same line

My settings look similar: I use xfer_mode 'atm' - but the other values
are identical.

I'm using a line provided by Deutsche Telekom (resold to 1&1, but that
shouldn't make a difference).
