this is the json_script rule for the button handler ->

        [ "if",
                [ "and",
                        [ "has", "BUTTON" ],
                        [ "eq", "SUBSYSTEM", "button" ],
                ],
                [ "exec", "/etc/rc.button/%BUTTON%" ]
        ],

it will pass the same env to the script as it would to the hotplug
handler.
