I concur. I tried to combine this patch with other complementary old 
ones, and just submitted v2 of the result: today's message title on this 
mailing-list reads "[PATCH v2] iptables: NFLOG and NFQUEUE targets' full 
support", it also got picked up at 
<http://patchwork.openwrt.org/patch/6071/>).

The first version got no response whatsoever so far. I guess everyone is 
busy with the upcoming Barrier Breaker official release!

I also could use NFLOG successfully and would be glad if NFLOG and 
NFQUEUE support could make it into the next release in some form after 6 
years (!) of lingering around.
As the above mentioned patch mostly only add new functionality which is 
disabled by default, it seems pretty low risk to me.

Could you perhaps try my patch and report here if it also works for you? 
Maybe this could help convince OpenWrt's committers to also have a look 
at it?
