----------
I have tested a build of OpenWRT 21.02.0-rc3 with [[https://git.openwrt.org/?p=openwrt/openwrt.git;a=commitdiff;h=6e411b8416388a9c8be1b2291be9b5adeeb07784|the CPU governor patchset]] backported, and 4 backups succeeded in a row! This is the same SFTP to the USB drive on the NBG6817 setup for the past series of comments.

The DTS changes (adjusting voltage, etc) do not seem to be needed, just the CPU governor patchset. (They don't seem to hurt either, as the main branch snapshot builds were just fine too.)

I'm confident enough in these results to submit a patch on the OpenWRT mailing list, as per zorun's suggestion on OFTC/#openwrt-devel - thanks!
