I have tried the suggestion from [[https://forum.openwrt.org/t/tl-wr841n-v8-ath79-link-unstable/52427/24|here]] and rebuilt the firmware with commits 3d93b35f03 and 443fc9ac35 reverted. Seems to work well now.
