Yes, under the condition that the rules [1] remain untouched, this
basically just a matter of declaring the old openwrt git trees as
dead and setting up some redirections, right?

I honestly couldn't care less. What's the problem of having two
parallel brands referring to the same product? This is a very common
thing happening all over the place. Why can't the people wanting to
call it OpenWrt call it that and the people wanting to call it LEDE
call it that and those who are indifferent can call it OpenWrt/LEDE.
