um ... can we not drag that issue up again? it was explained in some
detail here:

yes, that upset a lot of people, but red hat did it deliberately, and
they explained why they did it. you can accept their reasoning or
not, but that incident is pretty thoroughly irrelevant to gcc these
days, wouldn't you say?
