I'm trying to build OpenWrt for the NSLU2. I'm doing this because I
want to try and build RXTX (http://www.rxtx.org) for OpenWrt/NSLU2.
Since I'm new to OpenWrt and suggestions, comments, help, etc. would be
much appreciated.

When building the trunk or the source I get to here:

  make[3] -C toolchain/binutils install
  make[3] -C toolchain/gcc prepare
  make[3] -C toolchain/gcc compile
  make[3] -C toolchain/uClibc compile
  make[3] -C toolchain/gcc install
make -r world: build failed. Please re-run make with V=99 to see what's
going on
make: *** [world] Error 1

when I run with V=99 I get:

checking GCC_EXEC_PREFIX variable... ok
checking whether to place generated files in the source directory... no
checking whether a default linker was specified... no
checking whether a default assembler was specified... no
checking for i386-redhat-linux-gcc... (cached) gcc
checking for C compiler default output file name... configure: error: C
compiler cannot create executables
See `config.log' for more details.

make[4]: *** [all] Error 2

make[3]: ***

Error 2

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to proceed.

Thanks,

Jim
