[OpenWrt-Users] ps and top say "Segmentation fault"

I have a kamikaze (compiled from the svn trunk a few days ago.
Uses kernel 2.6.23) running on a wrtsl54gs. Overall it works OK, but
every once in a while, it gets into a state where `ps' and `top' do not
work and just segfault (after printing the first line header).
For what it's worth, it might be linked to situations where I stress the
machine a bit more (it is connected to a USB harddrive and runs a bunch
of daemons like http/mpd/polipo). More specifically it seems to occur
mostly when I use my "Debian chroot" and do things like "apt-get upgrade".
Has anyone seen something like this, and if so is it known what might be
the culprit? I tried to `strace' the `ps' process but that hangs hard.
Also usually the machine ends up freezing later on (sometimes right
away, sometimes an hour later).
