[OpenWrt-Users] a beginner, about flash on the APs

Dear all,

I am quite a beginner with OpenWRT stuff, and I would like to ask how much
Flash memory you need for deploying a complete OpenWRT system on a
router/AP. I mean, are 2 MB sufficient for running the most useful existing
packages for several applications (for example location systems), or are
there other ways for supplying this lack of space, e.g. using an external or
internal hard disk?

Hoping my questions are clear enough ;)
Thank you for your availability,
Cheers
Daniele

Hi Scott,

Welcome to the Openwrt mail list.

I have never used ez-ipupdate program so i can't help with that.

By the sounds of it you have got ssh access to the router all you need
to do is type
ipkg info <package>

here is an example

root at OpenWrt:~# ipkg info nvram
Package: nvram
Version: 1
Section: sys
Architecture: mipsel
Maintainer: OpenWrt Developers Team <openwrt-devel at openwrt.org>
MD5Sum: 3143f87539189ed795af5b68d5f37f6a
Size: 11305
Filename: nvram_1_mipsel.ipk
Source:
http://svn.openwrt.org/openwrt/branches/whiterussian/openwrt/package/nvram
Description: NVRAM utility and libraries for Broadcom hardware

iirc webif^2 web interface from http://x-wrt.org/ in its package
manager section has descriptions of the packages.

Sorry i can't be much help with the web interface stuff as i use a
micro install of Openwrt on my router and only have ssh access to it

HTH

Regards
Dale
