[OpenWrt-Users] rootfstype=squashfs,jffs2?

after booting my wrt54gl, i can see the contents of /proc/cmdline,
which contains the option:
rootfstype=squashfs,jffs2
what does it mean to have two different fs types there? i realize
that the R/O root FS is squashfs, while mini_fo is used to handle
changes to that into JFFS2. but why is the above required? who are
you notifying about the possible FS types, and what does it mean to
list two different types there? thanks.
