 Oleg's firmware page also seems to confirm:

         "This firmware no longer supports original WL-500g/b/bv2/WL-300g
 /WL-HDD units: hardware vendor no longer support BCM4702 CPU. [...]
 Updated WiFi module to latest (4.150.10.16) (from the WL-500W 2.0.0.1
 firmware)"

 The way I understand it, the problem lies within the wl_apsta.o etc.
 binary code that seems to be dependent on the host CPU and is not just
 executed by the wireless module itself?
