#3392: broadcom-wl update in r10137 breaks older hardware (such as WL-500g)

Reporter: Fatus | Owner: developers
Type: defect | Status: new
Priority: normal | Milestone: Kamikaze
Component: packages | Resolution:
Keywords: broadcom-wl wl-500g wl_attach |

Comment (by Fatus):
Interestingly, the b43 driver's page on wireless.kernel.org states (in the
context of explaining the difference between b43 and b43legacy):
Broadcom did not release any version 4 firmware files for some older
boards, possibly due to memory constraints on the cards themselves.
I guess this is exactly what's missing in the broadcom-wl binary stuff
since r10137.
