 Ok I had a little time to poke around and spotted the above four pcb
 mounts. There is a 3.3v relative to GND (and a GND) pin, which suggests,
 along with the nice location of the mounts; that this was a serial port at
 some point.

 Unfortunately I think they've cut the pcb tracks to Tx/Rx. I built a
 MAX232 converted and soldered on some cables and got nothing. I tried the
 buzzer idea too with no success.
