Updating on this.

I've developed a patch set for comment regarding fixing
device port naming in preinit.

I will be sending it through to the mailing list shortly
with the RFC prefix.

I haven't looked much further into the luci-mod-status.
My initial hack was to put everything other than eth0
under the 'lan' interface in 02_network under board.d
