Can you be more explicit as to why they are an exception?  Neither are "SSB Wifi", and I have
installed the mips74k trx with the broadcom_wl driver on my E3000 (basic trunk build from last
night with just the patches listed below using GCC 4.9.x linaro), and it appears to me to be fully
functional (I didn't test for many hours).
