I am having this issue too with Quectel EC20. Interestingly, in Quectel's official connection manager, they seem to periodically check if the QMI IP address has changed, and if so they reconnect:

I wonder if this is to work around a bug in modem firmware, or perhaps a quirk with how IP addresses are allocated on certain mobile networks?
