I created a pull request to add support for the device in the ath79 architecture. Could you please check it at https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/pull/3652? You may also want to compile it yourself and test it.

Since the ar71xx target is already defunct, I'd focus efforts on making sure the device is correctly supported in ath79 for the next 20.xx release.
